Facebook and Glamour gathered a happy, if a bit warm, group of politicos led by Politico Playbook’s Anna Palmer. Glamour’s editor Cindi Levie’s flight got canceled because of weather but the party continued and the launch of their campaign for women. #51MillionVoices

The pitch: “This November, 51 million women under the age of 45 will be eligible to vote. These young women have a lot to say. That’s why Glamour and Facebook teamed up this year — to investigate and elevate the political issues these voters care about most.”

uWatch More on iPad

July 22, 2010 By WHC Insider

If you’re watching the above video while on a laptop or desktop, you’re in a minority.

BusinessWeek rounds up the data that more people watch video on mobile devices like tablets or their phone than if they were in front of a computer. What’s the appeal?

“Because mobile devices are slower, so if you take the trouble to find a web video, you’re likely to stick around. Also, because mobile devices don’t have big screens or multitasking, viewers are pretty locked into what they are watching.”

It may not be mobile television, but with the ABC iPad app you can further expect congested Metro trips and visits to the capitol to become more dependent on Apple’s tablet, as WHC Insider previously suggested.

Fingers crossed that the ABC app does well enough to encourage the biggest D.C. wonk app: the CSPAN app.

Video Driving Facebook? We're A Fan of That

June 28, 2010 By WHC Insider

Why bother with emails when you can leave a video on your friend’s wall in the same amount of time?

Ok, so that’s not exactly the normal Facebook etiquette, but it could soon be due to the staggering amount of video being uploaded to the social networking site.

Tale of the Tweets: Obama v. Obama

June 23, 2010 By WHC Insider

Obama’s premiere Oval Office speech last week was the worst of social media and the best of social media.

Mashable ran “Obama Speech on BP Oil Not A Hit with Facebook and Twitter Users” after taking data provided by Crimson Hexagon from “83,000 Tweets and public Facebook comments” over a nine hour shift. But taking such things into account can provide little feedback, especially when 15 percent of the poll were annoyed they missed So You Think You Can Dance and the other five questioned why so many people would anonymously make fun of the president.

Mark Zuckerberg: Getting Under the Hoodie

June 8, 2010 By WHC Insider

It’s tough to get a straight answer these days about Facebook’s troubled privacy policies but Mark Zuckerberg was coerced into unveiling a secret of his own at the Wall Street Journal’s D8: All Things Digital conference – what’s inside his hoodie.

Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher had Zuckerberg on the hot seat when Swisher skillfully slid in the request. The young CEO was reluctant at first until the warm stage lights and the thick hoodie added up to one sweaty situation. Zuckerberg unzipped, and Swisher joked we were witnessing a “great moment in Internet history.”

So what is printed inside the Facebook hoodie? Their mission motto: Making the world more open and connected. Swisher likened the design to “a secret cult” and wondered if the “weird symbol” in the middle was for the Illuminati. Take a look below and click here for more from the Zuckerberg D8 interview.
