The $1,250 Inauguration Question

January 3, 2013 By WHC Insider

Just what is the most expensive inauguration item in 2013? (Hint: see above!)

Among some of the more mundane items from the official 57th Presidential Inauguration store are your buttons, pens and rulers. But this silver coin breaks the mold–and bank–with a hefty $1k price-tag. We’re not entirely sure where this mythical “7.500” medallion is that 9News found, but we won’t give up in our efforts for expensive tchotkes. Along with that PIC sent out a press release officially announcing more groups joining the inauguration.

Participants in the 2013 Inaugural Parade so far include marching bands, drill teams, dance groups, and more.

“The talented groups chosen to participate in the Inaugural Parade reflect the spirit, values, and diversity of our great nation,” President Obama said. “Vice President Biden and I are honored to have them join us in the parade.”

Organizations that have accepted invitations today include:

Ambulance 255 Project
North Franklin, Connecticut

Ballet Folklóico de la Raza
Colorado Springs, Colorado

Boston College Screaming Eagles Marching Band
Boston, Massachusetts

Central Valley High School Marching Band
Spokane Valley, Washington

Comparsa Morelense
Nevada

National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Washington, D.C.

The Tribes of North Dakota
North Dakota

Palm Springs “Spirit of the Sands” Marching Band and Visual Corps
Palm Spring High School
Palm Springs, California

Pearl River Community College Marching Band
Poplarville, Mississippi

Portsmouth High School Marching Band
Portsmouth, Rhode Island

Union High School Air Force Junior ROTC
Tulsa, Oklahoma

Utah Hispanic Dance Alliance
Sandy, Utah

The Utuqqagmiut Dancers
Wainwright, Alaska

The PIC website is being updated with new talent as added. And yet, not a single Mummer. Maybe 2017?
