The White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) announced today that Kenan Thompson of “Saturday Night Live” and Hasan Minhaj of “Patriot Act” will be the featured performers at the 2020 White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 25th.
Kenan Thompson is currently in his 17th season with “SNL,” where he is known for his famous impressions of Charles Barkley and Steve Harvey.
The 2020 dinner will also feature Hasan Minhaj, known for his roles on “Daily Host” and “Patriot Act.” Minhaj was the featured entertainer at the 2017 dinner.
WHCA President Jonathan Karl, the chief White House correspondent at ABC News, has introduced new awards to recognize accountability journalism and reportorial courage, highlighting on the dinner’s renewed emphasis on freedom of the press.
Last year, the WHCA reset the dinner format, breaking from its decades-long comedic tradition by booking renowned historian and Alexander Hamilton biographer Ron Chernow to headline the dinner.
The New York Times reports that “The dinner itself…will have a refreshed look. The yellowish curtain of years past will be replaced by large screens, and the evening will be overseen by a veteran television producer, Bob Bain.”
