The Washington AI Network welcomed National AI Advisory Committee members and DC AI friends on May 1 for a special Haippy Hour at The House at 1229.
EqualAI President/CEO and NAIAC Chair Miriam Vogel and NobleReach Foundation CEO Arun Gupta joined Washington AI Network founder Tammy Haddad as co-hosts of the event. Gupta is also co-author of the recently released bestseller Venture Meets Mission: Aligning People, Purpose, and Profit to Innovate and Transform Society.
“We’re here to toast these public servants who are working hard to advise the President and make recommendations on how government should approach AI,” Haddad said as she welcomed attendees.

NAIAC — established in April 2022 — consists of AI specialists from the private sector, academia, nonprofits, and civil society. The committee is responsible for providing guidance to the President and the National AI Initiative Office on matters concerning AI.
Vogel, who has served as NAIAC’s Chair since the committee’s launch, thanked NAIAC members for all of their hard work to date. She also took a moment to acknowledge three former U.S. Chief Technology Officers who were in attendance at the Haippy Hour: Aneesh Chopra, Megan Smith, and Michael Kratsios.

Gupta shared how the NobleReach Foundation is also working to bridge the tech talent gap in government, mentioning that the Foundation is launching its Scholars program to attract the best and brightest minds to go into government service.
As Haddad said in her closing toast, “I would like to raise a glass to the hope and promise that AI brings, and to the men and women who are working hard to ensure the United States continues to lead the world in this next frontier. To NAIAC!”
Attendees included former U.S. Chief Technology Officers Aneesh Chopra, Megan Smith, and Michael Kratsios; National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Chief AI Advisor Elham Tabassi; the Center for AI Safety Action Fund’s Varun Krovi; Booking Holdings’ Maryam Mujica; Amazon Web Services’ Head of US Congressional and Political Affairs Olivia Igbokwe-Curry and Global Lead for AI Policy Marc-Etienne Ouimette; Meta Public Affairs Director Nkechi Nneji; Sen.
