Teresa Carlson—known for pioneering the adoption of Amazon Web Services across the U.S. government and around the world—has been named Anthropic’s first Global Head of Public Sector.

Carlson built AWS’s Worldwide Public Sector business from the ground up, later led Microsoft’s Federal Sales organization, and most recently co-founded and served as CEO of the Washington-based General Catalyst Institute where she has worked to advance policies that strengthen national resilience through AI, healthcare, defense, energy, and education.

Carlson will lead Anthropic’s global public sector strategy, overseeing the company’s work with governments and public institutions across the United States, the United Kingdom, and international markets.
