The social calendars are quickly filling up for the end of April, which is why the White House Correspondents’ Association held an emergency conference call today.
According to the Washington Post’s Reliable Source, there was concern that the guest of honor at the WHCA Dinner, President Obama, may have an invitation he couldn’t refuse – the royal nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The heir to the British throne and soon-to-be Princess Catherine set their wedding date for Friday, April 29, 2011. The WHCA already picked Saturday, April 30th for their annual dinner. Aside from a presidential scheduling conflict, there was concern over the number of media who will likely be London-bound. But as WHCA board member Julie Mason told the Reliable Source today, “It’s an inconvenience, but not a direct conflict.”
So mark April 30th in pen! And considering the president seemed unfazed when he was left off the guest list for Chelsea Clinton‘s wedding in July, it may not be such a hard invitation to refuse after all.
