Jimmy Kimmel Calls White House Correspondents' Dinner "Cannibalism"

May 9, 2012 By Tammy Haddad

Ted Johnson from Variety and their DC web site WilshireandWashington, got the first interview with ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel assessing his performance at the 2012 White House Correspondents Dinner.  Kimmel called the practice of journalists inviting stars like Lindsay Lohan and the Kardashians to the dinner and then making negative comments about them attending “cannibalism.”  He went on to say the room was difficult, like being “20,000 leagues under the sea.”

The assessment of Kimmel from attendees was that his jokes were too many and that he was just reading them.  Kimmel tells Variety that the president and first lady told him he did well.  Read the rest of Ted Johnson’s interview here.

Slow Jamming With Jimmy

April 25, 2012 By WHC Insider

Is the President trying to get a comedic jump on Jimmy Kimmel?

Just days before sharing the dais at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner with Late Night Comedian Jimmy Kimmel,  President  Obama “slow jammed” the news last night on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”

Obama taped the segment on Tuesday at the University of North Carolina.

North Carolina is a key battleground state for the 2012 Presidential election, and Obama’s appearance on “Late Night” is seen as the White House’s latest effort to capture the youth vote.

On Saturday April 28, Jimmy Kimmel will host the 98th annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and President and Mrs. Obama are expected to attend.

Jimmy Kimmel vs. Wayne Brady

April 5, 2012 By WHC Insider

Comedian Wayne Brady has been announced as the featured speaker at the upcoming Radio & Television Congressional Correspondents Dinner, which luckily for White House Correspondents Dinner entertainer Jimmy Kimmel, has been moved from the Spring to June.

Brady’s most recent DC gig was 3 nights of sold out performances at the Kennedy Center.   Dinner Chairman Jay McMichael says  “This is an evening you’ll want to experience. We’re shaking things up, showcasing the unexpected, and delivering lots of laughs.”

In addition to Brady’s acting, improv, singing, and dancing on television, film, and the stage, he also hosts the updated version of Let’s Make a Deal on CBS.

The Friday, June 8 dinner is traditionally attended by The President, the Congressional Leadership, media executives, Capitol Hill broadcast journalists and prominent newsmakers.

Look for a large team from ABC to be in the nation’s capitol to cheer Jimmy Kimmel on.
