Clooney returns to White House Correspondents Dinner

April 11, 2012 By WHC Insider

Time magazine has snagged George Clooney and his girlfriend Stacy Keibler; and Hollywood bigwig Steven Spielberg and his wife, actress Kate Capshaw.  This makes Richard Stengel the top booker of the weekend.

Greta Van Sustern and John Coale finally have some competition.

Newsweek’s Daily Beast is right up there with  Academy award winning actresses Reese Witherspoon and Viola Davis, and former soldier, actor and “Dancing with the Stars” winner J.R. Martinez.   Actress Rashida Jones will be the guest of Fortune.

Politico is reporting that ABC is bringing actor Paul Rudd and Elizabeth Banks from the super hot movie “Hunger Games” and “Modern Family” stars including Sofia Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julie Bowen and Eric Stonestreet, as well as  “Cougar Town” actors Christa Miller and Bill Lawrence.

Seth Meyers' Newsworthy Week

May 11, 2011 By WHC Insider

Seth Meyers is on the comedic roll of a lifetime.  He played the White House Correspondents dinner like a veteran, poking fun at Washington biggies including President Obama himself.

Hours after this performance, the news about Bin-Laden’s death was released, which gave Meyers great material for his Saturday Night Live skit Weekend Update. Check out the clip below:

President Obama and Seth Meyers Score Plenty of Laughs and YouTube Views at #WHCD

May 4, 2011 By WHC Insider

The day before Osama Bin Laden was killed the President entertained a crowd of high profile politicos, media personalities and hollywood celebs at the Washington Hilton throwing satirical punches at Donald Trump with video pieces of his birth certificate and his never seen before “actual birth.”  SNL’s Seth Meyers brought his whole family to the affair as well as his Weekend Update humor.

Check out the videos below:

Obama’s speech is now the most watched video on C-SPAN’s YouTube channel with over 6 million hits and counting.

Seth Meyers: How do you follow Obama?

April 28, 2011 By WHC Insider

2011 WHCD featured speaker Seth Meyers, head writer and host of Weekend Update for NBC’s Saturday Night Live, told Jimmy Fallon last night he was a little nervous about his duties at Saturday’s dinner. Especially having to follow the President, known for getting even the most hardened reporters to laugh at the annual dinner.

NBC News anchor Brian Williams didn’t help Meyers’ nerves.

“I was a little nervous to begin with and then Brian Williams…sent me an email being like: toughest room in the business – no man comes out unscathed. Even the knees of brave Achilles would go to jelly were he to stand behind that podium. Let me know if I can help…”

At least his parents will be there to cheer him on – and we’re rooting for you, too, Seth!

Seth Meyers to be Entertainer at 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner – Really

December 8, 2010 By WHC Insider

The White House Correspondent’s “Weekend Update” is that Saturday Night Live’s own Seth Meyers will be the entertainment for 2011’s big dinner  (as reported by POLITICO) in which his audience will be made up of everyone from President Obama to every major media outlet and the celebrity guests they bring.  Like those that have preceded him, such as this year’s Jay Leno and 2009’s Wanda Sykes, Meyer’s faces a tough crowd but will expectedly use his social and political commentary that has made him popular on SNL’s Weekend Update segment as part of his routine.

This is the second headline for the 2011 dinner in recent weeks as the argument still continues as to whether the dinner should be moved due to it occurring only one day after the royal wedding (although the WHCA has stated they will not move the dinner).
